Applied Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

The Applied Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, (LIAA because of its Spanish acronym) is a research laboratory of the Department of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Guanajuato at its Irapuato site. We belong to the Life Sciences Division of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, (DICIVA because of its Spanish acronym) located at the Community  "El Copal" in Irapuato, Mexico. In accordance with the research topics being developed, the laboratory is in association with the bachelor’s programs on: Agricultural Mechanical Engineering, Agronics Engineering, and Sustentaible Energy Engineering. It is also associated with the Master and Doctoral programs in BioSciences. The Laboratory is a result of the pioneering work in computer vision and artificial intelligence developed by Dr. Jonathan Cepeda Negrete in 2018. Since then, the laboratory has been strengthened through the work of several researchers involved in the development of intelligent systems.

  • LIAA is conceived as a learning environment aimed at the development of highly skilled human resources. These people are now helping to improve our society through their knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes.

  • LIAA's environment seeks to contribute with skills and knowledge to the progress of the state of the art in computer vision, artificial intelligence, agricultural and automation disciplines. This is reflected in its academic production.

  • LIAA is a network of shared efforts between its members and sponsors. The capacities generated by the resulting synergy allow it to address the continuing challenges that emerge in our environment.

  • LIAA has computational, electronic and vision equipment that is used for the research purposes of the laboratory’s disciplines of interest, to know: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Automation.
